The Macgregor Primary School Canteen operates Monday to Friday, providing meals and snacks for students and staff.

Food Collection Times at the Canteen:

• First Break (Recess) Time:
  • 11am-11.50am: Pre-ordered food including frozen items should be collected by students from the pre-ordered food line at the canteen
• Second Break (Lunch) Time:
  • 1:20pm: Lunch baskets for student lunch orders collected from the canteen.
  • 1:30-1.50pm: Any frozen items should be collected from the pre-ordered food line at the canteen.
  • All frozen items are to be collected from the canteen, they do not get sent with the lunch basket.
• Birthday Icy Pole Collection: Any time before 2pm please.

We are very fortunate to have our canteen organised and supported by the wonderful Macgregor Primary School P&C. Our dedicated canteen team prepares a variety of healthy, affordable and homemade options available during both morning break and lunch. Orders can be placed online through Flexischools.

As a not-for-profit community service, the canteen aims to keep prices affordable while ensuring we cover our operating costs and remain open each weekday for our school community.

Preschool students are welcome to place lunch orders every second Wednesday. This helps ensure all Preschool students have the opportunity to order from the canteen throughout the term.

Our Menu

Our menu follows the National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines, which categorise food and drinks according to their nutritional value.

We aim to provide a range of nutritious, appealing and affordable options for students and staff.

Counter Sales

The canteen offers a snack menu available for cash sales during both breaks.

Students can choose from a variety of items including:

• Fresh fruit
• Popcorn
• Baked goods
• Frozen treats
• Drinks
• Hot food options (Winter only)

Prices range from 20 cents to $4.00.

Ordering Food

Families are encouraged to place orders online through Flexischools.

Orders can be placed up until 9:30am on the day for both morning break and lunch. You can also place orders in advance for future dates.

Alternatively, students may bring money to the canteen window and place an order before 9:30am each morning.

Setting Up Flexischools

Registering is quick and easy:

1. Visit the Flexischools website or download the Flexischools App (available on Android and Apple devices).
2. Select Register Now.
3. Enter your email address.
4. Follow the link sent to your email and complete the registration form.
5. Create a username and password.
6. Add your child/children and their class details.
7. Add funds to your account (Visa or Mastercard preferred).

Please note: Flexischools charges a parent order fee for online orders.

We are having trouble with our lunch order. What should we do?

Please call the canteen as soon as possible on 6142 1628 so our team can assist. We will always do our best to find a solution.

My child no longer needs their lunch order. What should I do?

Please contact the canteen as soon as you know the order is no longer required.

Where possible, if you contact us before 11:00am, we can transfer the order to another day.

My child has food allergies. Can they safely order from the canteen?

The canteen offers some gluten-free, plant based, dairy-free and egg-free options.

While we take every possible care with food preparation and handling, we cannot guarantee that products are completely free from allergens due to the nature of a shared kitchen environment.

Families can also select the allergy alert option when ordering through Flexischools.

If your child has specific dietary needs, we encourage families to contact the Canteen Manager to discuss options.

Volunteering at the Canteen

Our canteen relies on the wonderful support and generosity of volunteers from our school community.

Parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and carers are all welcome to volunteer. The canteen is a friendly, family-focused environment, and younger children are welcome to attend with supervising adults.

What do volunteers do?

Volunteers support the Canteen Manager with the daily operation of the canteen.

Tasks may include:

• Preparing and serving menu items
• Preparing pizzas, sandwiches and burgers
• Toasting sandwiches
• Packing lunch bags
• Restocking fridges and freezers
• Preparing popcorn, veggie sticks and other snacks
• Preparing salads and sandwich ingredients
• Packing nugget boxes
• Washing, drying and storing equipment
