Volunteering your time and expertise in working with young people is a highly valued part of our system, especially at Macgregor Primary School. Guidelines on "Volunteering - Working with Young People" have been circulated to all Government schools in the ACT. This mandatory departmental policy has the following purposes:
- affirm volunteering as a highly desirable part of the ACT Government school system
- provide a framework to protect the rights of students to work and learn in a safe, well organised environment
- provide a strategy that supports volunteers in ACT Government schools.
All volunteers who visit the school more than 4 times in a month, or 7 times, a year are required by the Directorate to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Card. These are provided at no cost to volunteers. You can apply for a Working with Vulnerable People Card here.
